JUBA –The South Sudan United Front/Army, a member to holdout groups dismissed accusations by SPLM-IO that it’s waging a rebellion yet.
“Response to the baseless accusation made by SPLM-IO the untrusted Peace partner in JubaIn reference to the accusation made by the SPLM – IO under Riek Machar against the leader of SSUF/A – Nairobi Declaration, we take no chances to let SPLM – IO under Riek Machar who has damaged reputation misinform the public. The accusation made by the SPLM IO against the peaceful leader of SSUF/A – Nairobi Declaration’s C-in-C Maj.Gen. Dickson Gatluak Jock is outrageously baseless and laughable”. Reads the statement.
In the statement extended to Thejubamirror, Moses Wawich Liem, the official spokesperson for SSUF/A describes “Home-grown Initiative” as national example of showcasing the true spirit of peace to all warring parties signatories to R-ARCISS.
“The SSUF/A – Nairobi Declaration is a peaceful renaissance party that is piloting a home-grown Peace initiative, aiming at encouraging the SPLM and other political parties across South Sudan to adapt a spirit of brotherly and honest dialogue to bring peace to the country. Due to this humble strategic approach that we believe will usher a spirit of dialogue than violence, many young people are joining our party in numbers to support this new political dispensation in the country. Recently, we have seen formidable young people defecting to SSUF/A – Nairobi Declaration and that had not sink well with the marooned party SPLM IO who is now known for the culture of dictatorship and mistreatment of people who have different opinions or choices about the direction of the country. Instead of talking about programs that can render services to the people of South Sudan, the SPLM IO is shamelessly busy arresting and harassing peaceful young people who want to join other parties, with aim to frustrate the spirit of peace”. Wawich emphasizes.
Moses Wawich in the statement slams the SPLM-IO for advocating for tribal agendas. He further urges Machar’s group to shune such mindsets and opt to the path of democracy.
“We urge the SPLM IO to grow up and practice the real democracy in action with the aim to bring peace and services to the people of South Sudan. Evidences has shown so far that the SPLM IO remains to be a tribal party that encourage clans infighting by giving powers to tribal leaders who, with naked impunity go after their clan’s members when they opt to join other party. This is happening especially in places such as Unity State, Upper Nile and Jonglei”. He stresses.
Dickson’s mouthpiece further reaffirms their commitment to the compromised ceasefire and re-ignites their position to the peace guarantors to facilitate the immediate release of officers alleged to have had been arrested in Unity State by Machar’s area commander last week.
“We would like again to call upon the peace partners to rebuke SPLM IO let by Riek Machar to immediately ceased from petty mendacious politic and release officers they have arrested in Bentiu. SSUF/A remains committed to cessation of hostilities agreement signed under the auspice of Saint Engido in Room and reiterate our commitment to peaceful coexistence across South Sudan”. Wawich added.
