In the statement obtained by. Thejubamirror News Desk CEPO strongly condemned the torture of a girl by parents in Warrap state due to her rejection for marriage. This act is violate the adopted national strategy for prevention of early and forces marriage in South Sudan. The parent of this girl should face competent court of the law for act they did to the girl
Mr Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Cepo says Hon. Governor of Warrap State in collaboration with ministry of Gender, child and Social Welfare should ensure that the parents of this girl as arrested and present to county of law immediately with any delay, fear and favor. This is An unaccepted act. If the state political leadership to hold the parents of this girl accountable within 7 days from now. CEPO will assign a lawyer to handle this case on behalf of the girl.
The torture this girl undergone is abuse of her rights to consent for marriage. This girl have fully legal rights to consent for the marriage or not for the marriage. The culture of forcing girl to marriage our their or her choice have ended already. Mr Yakani stressed.
Finally CEPO is urging the political leadership of Warrap state to handle the case of girl by presenting her her parents to competent court of law within 7 days from today or we will apply all options of advoacacy and lobby to make the parents of this girl held accountable and face court of law
