CEPO program of Status of Women Initiative is raising a serious concern and alert on threats posted on violation of 35% for women enforcement in line with the provision of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan. Seat of 35% under ticket if incumbent in the ministry of foreign affairs was replaced by male and now seat on 35% under SPLM-IO in the former party leadership in the ministry of Defense will be replace by male including the seat of Jongeli State Legislative Assembly Speaker under the ticket of the SPLM-IO may likely replace by male.
Mr Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Cepo says this act of replacing women leaders under the ticket of 35% for women in the government is unacceptable and it is clear violation of meaningful women participation in public life and implementation of the R-ARCSS.
The presidency should not allow this violation of 35% for women to continue like that under their leadership since they have agreed right from day one they signed the provisions of the R-ARCSS including article 1.1.4. Which urges each party signatory to the R-ARCSS to enforce 35% for women in their every appointment in any level of the Revitalized Government of National Unity
RJMEC and IGAD leadeship should speak to the violation of the 35% for women which is take place in any reshuffle of the government by the parties signatories to the R-ARCSS. It is essential that the seat of the 35% for women under the incumbent government by then in the ministry of foreign affairs is regained in any closer reshuffle, SPLM-IO should not appoint any male leader in the line of their presidential swapped of ye ministries of defense and ministry of interior. Further SPLM-IO should not replace the speaker of Jongeli state legislative Assembly with Mae leader or retained the incumbent speaker. Violation of the 35% for women in acciradance of article 1.1.4 of the R-ARCSS is a violation of the R-ARCSS. Mr Yakani stressed
CEPO program of Status of Women Initiative (SOWI) will petition the political parties or violation of the 35% for women. Undermining meaningful women participation in the implementation of the R-ARCSS provisions is totally rejected and it offers threat to successful political transitioning from violence to peace.
