JUBA – The leader of South Sudan United Front/Army Gen. Dickson Galuak Jock Nyuot has now formed the SSUF/A-Nairobi Declaration Negotiation team headed by Charles Uchalla Muong as the chief negotiator.
The thirteen-member team will hold peace talks with the government in Juba for the absorption of SSUF/A-ND into the reconstituted transitional government of national unity (R-TGoNU) on a date that is yet to be disclosed.
“The team will lead the political discussion with the South Sudan government in order to reach an agreement through home-grown peace initiative,” said Dickson in a statement.
“The chief negotiator will be in-charge of overall negotiation leading to the completion of discussion process until the SSUF/A Nairobi Declaration comes to an agreement with Juba.”
On Monday, Dickson announced that Justice Power Freedom/Army (JPM/A) led by Uchalla had joined his SSUF/A-ND faction.
The two rebel movements resolved to merge in pursuit of a lasting peace and stability in South Sudan. Dickson boasted that the move would mark the end of atrocities across the country.
SSUF/A-Nairobi Declaration stemmed from SSUF/A after Dickson announced in January to have replaced Paul Malong.
The newly formed movement claims to have faith in Pope Francis’ message of peace to South Sudanese leaders and people. But Malong viewed this as the aftermath of betrayal characterized by secret talks he claimed were held by Dickson with Juba Regime.
