With tensions rising between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his longest political rivals Dr Riek Machar Teny Jonglei State base Activist Deng Bol ask two Leaders to dialogue to deescalate political tensions and anxiety in South Sudan since Presidential decrees
The suggestion that SPLM-IO should dialogue instead moving to Court to challenge the President’s recent decree and order, would have been the RIGHT approach in my view had most South Sudanese not lost trust in the Country’s Judicial system.
I would rather urge that the slated meeting between the President and his First Vice is better placed in the quest to break the deadlock and further build the much needed consensus amongst the Political players involved.
However, since the Extended-R-ARCSS (Roadmap) is a making of all the Partners, it is equally imperative that other Signatories are involved in the talks. Why? Because the apparent violation is against the agreement and not just a single peace Partner (SPLM-IO). In my humble view, it is beyond the two and therefore, inclusivity in the proposed amicable settlement would be a wiser thing to do.
