The leader of the breakaway South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) Gen. Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot today officially installed himself as leader of the rebel group and unveiled an interim leadership.
Gatluak begun to impose himself last week following an announcement removing General Paul Malong Awan, the founder of the group, and accusing him of being incapable of leading the movement due to sanctions imposed on him by the international community.
In a statement extended to Sudans Post, Gatluak named himself the chair of the chairman and commander in chief of the movement and appointed Marine Anier Dhuol as his deputy effective immediately.
“I Gen. Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot, the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) do hereby declare the formation of Interim Leadership of SSUF/A- Nairobi Declaration on this date Feb. 6th, 2023 as it shall come into effect on the sited date of the signature by myself, the Chairman and C-in-C of South Sudan United Front/Army,” he said in the statement.
