JUBA, JANUARY 27th 2027 (Thejubamirror ) – Authorities at South Sudan’s Juba International Airport have said that at least five people including two crew members on Friday morning survived a plane crash west of the airport.
Kur Kuol, the director of Juba Airport, told Sudans Post that the Antonov L410 plane operated by Fly Air Africa was heading to Akobo of Jonglei State when it crashed just minutes after take-off the international airport.
“It was going to Akobo and it was just a few minutes after takeoff. All the people on board have survived the crash and everybody is safe,” he said.
This is not the first plane crash in South Sudan in recent years, but the first in 2023. In March 2021, a plane, L-410, operated by South Supreme Airlines crashed while enroute from Uror County to Juba killing all on board.
In August the previous year, eight people died and one passenger survived with injuries when a plane crashed minutes after takeoff from Juba airport.
There were also several plane crash in 2018, 2017 and 2015.
