Garang John, the SSBC political reporter, is being held at the NSS detention facility in Juba, according to a reliable source.
The reason for his arbitrary detention, he believes, is related to work at the state-run SSBC, where Garang resumed reporting recently.
The public broadcaster’s boss, Magok Chilim, got shaken by Garang’s return, thinking he could take over his position.
Initially, Garang returned to be the current affairs editor – a choice Magok rejected. As a result, Garang took up the foreign affairs reporter job.
“However, with the new The Agenda TV show he co-hosts with Chol Duang, Magok’s fragile ego melted,” says the source privy to SSBC business.
The TV director could not play a recorded interview with a senior government official. To kill the TV show hosted by the ‘boys’ he fears, thinking they could snatch his chair, Magok is doing everything in his power to keep them at bay.
He then “activated” an NSS officer named Augustino Albino Agok, who has been masquerading as a journalist at SSBC, to bring down Garang and Chol.
Since the two – Magok and Albino – are at assumed leadership war with the two political affairs reporters, Albino had Garang thrown in on Monday.
He did lure him to some office in Juba where a numberless NSS vehicle was waiting for him.
The source added that Garang’s arrest is not an official campaign by the blue house, but he is there on Magok Chilim’s orders.
