January 10, 2023. The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) has appealed to the political parties across the country to embark on coalition building in order to face the major parties during the election.
SSOA is comprised of about eight parties that were involved in the current South Sudan peace agreement.
In his address to the political party representatives who gathered to witness the launch of the 2023 work plan for the ANC over the weekend, Peter Lomude from SSOA appealed to the political parties to come together as one to face the major parties during the election
He also emphasised the importance of parties, particularly the opposition group, forming alliances as they prepare for the election in order to win the upcoming election.
“I believe that coalition is critical if we are to effect change; it is critical that we identify ourselves by forging alliances to assist the people of South Sudan in realising the change that they are yelling for,” Lomude said.
He appealed to other parties to join hands to ensure that the roadmap is implemented on time.
He also appealed to the parties to join hands and stand together for the people of South Sudan during the election.
Lomude emphasised the importance of creating political space for all parties to conduct their political activities freely.
He blamed the major parties to the agreement for restricting political space in areas under their rules.
Meanwhile, Republican Party representative, Santino Mabior Wol stated that if parties work together during the election, they will have more energy to win.
He said that the unity of parties remains the only way for small parties to get strength through coalition.
He added that his party is willing to work hands-on with other parties to ensure change comes to South Sudan.
