President Salva Kiir has recognized and appreciated security personnel, medical professionals and other front-line workers for their “diligent and relentless” efforts to serve the country, despite the challenges.
In his Christmas message released Saturday evening, the president said the festive season is a time of hope and joy, where “we draw inspiration from our Lord’s universal peace to humankind.”
“On this joyous occasion, on behalf of your government and that of my family, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to South Sudanese citizens within the country, in the region and across the world,” he said.
President Kiir asks the people to cherish the warmth of family and friends and reaffirm their commitment toward peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
He also said: “To members of the organized forces, who will not celebrate the Christmas with their loved ones because they are on duty, I thank you for your service and professionalism. Because of you, our citizens can travel and celebrate with their families with great confidence that their security is guaranteed.”
He further thanked medical professionals and other front-line workers who will be on duty during the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays.
“Special thanks goes to the civil servants who despite the challenges, have served our nation diligently and relentlessly. Collectively, your work demonstrates selfless love towards your fellow citizens and a clear reminder of values we should strive to live by, especially during this special time of the year.”
