The woman who abducted a one-month-old baby from a saloon in Juba has been arrested in Yirol, Lakes State.
Police Spokesperson Daniel Justin also confirmed that the baby has been rescued.
General Justin told Eye Radio that the suspected child trafficker has been transferred to Juba, where he will be subjected to investigations before being prosecuted.
On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, a woman identified as Mammy allegedly kidnapped two siblings from a saloon at 10 AM at Custom market in Juba.
Information that the family conferred to Eye Radio indicated that the suspect – who resided in Muniki residential area, had called Winnie Naphtali – mother of the missing children to accompany her to a nearby saloon.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/p
Winnie then took her children along upon the request of the unfamiliar family friend, before Mammy disappeared with the two kids – 4-year-old Kiden Naphtali and one-month-old Gloria Naphtali.
The suspected trafficker later abandoned one of the kids at a shop in Custom Market.
But, the child’s family says, after the father of the suspect heard the news on Eye Radio, he suspected his daughter and called the husband to confirm if she arrived Yirol with a small baby.
The suspect’s husband then found out and handed her to the authority.
