JUBA In a war of words ensuing between former FDs member Majak D’Agoot, and a group of intellectuals from Twic East opposing him for allegedly masterminding the disunity of Bor community through the Jieng De Jonglei campaign that threatens to divide sections of Bor and Twic of Jonglei, Majak has been described as a prophet of disunity, a turncoat and ungrateful person who has been working to bring down his mentor President Salva Kiir.
The group had in their first article accused Majak as the man with a hidden agenda of dividing the community, but in a gathering at Shirkat recently, Majak hit back at the group describing them as Atát which in Dinka may mean generally as radar less person, lone ranger or a societal pariah.
The group of Twic East intellectuals who say they are mainly protecting the unity of Bor people from selfish intellectuals like Majak say, ‘they are fully being supported by the silent majority of our Twic people as opposed to the minority who were lumped up in BMC Garden Hall in juba city on October 30th 2022. So we are not lone rangers”.
“In our view, the real lone ranger or Atàt is the one who had deceived the Twic East community in pursuit of his own personal gains and political ambitions in the country, therefore, an Atát is the one who divides his people without the support of his own paramount Chief as done by Dr Majak D Agoot” they argued.
The group say Majak is a man that cannot be trusted because he would jump into any wagon that he believes will propel him to power as shown by his involvement in the 2013 and 2016 wars of power struggle after deserting his ruling party and betrayed the President, as well as leaving his own community in the cold. When that did not work for him, he joined voices of those calling for a UN Trusteeship for South Sudan—-all because of his insatiable thirst for power.
They said Majak was a well-known protége of Cdr. Salva Kiir Mayardit during the struggle days, and would have been a “non-entity without Gen. Kiir Mayardit” yet he (Majak) still continued to connive with individuals who attempted to overthrow him. “This human Atát has shown to be the most ungrateful to our Republic today” they claim.
The group of intellectuals concluded that they do not oppose any person from the community trying to ascend to power but they warn that such cannot be done at the expense of the unity of Greater Bor Community.
