15 army generals removes Paul Malong, open for talks with government of South Sudan

 A group of South Sudan rebel officers led by General Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot this afternoon issued a statement removing General Paul Malong Awan as chairman of South Sudan United Front (SSUF/A) and echoing readiness for a “home-grown’ solution for conflict with President Salva Kiir’s unity government.

In the six-page statement obtain by Thejubamirror News Desk, the group of senior generals led by Gatluak who is the deputy chief of staff for administration and finance accused Malong of being unfit to lead the movement and removed him from the leadership of the group before revoking his membership of the movement.

“We [….] have taken over the leadership of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) and agreed enormously to dismiss Gen. Paul Malong Awan from the Movement and opted to embrace the spirit of a homegrown political dialogue with the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGONU), under the leadership of H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit,” the statement reads in part.

SSUF/A  spokesman Garang Malual  said they were not aware of any defection of generals to the government he added that SSUF/A have only one chairperson who is Gen Paul Malong Awan
